I would like to see more shops, better bus service, more things to do in the parks, places for teenagers to hang out and better tourist attractions. Thats just a starter.
My main priorities, if money was no object would be to have a lovely new theatre and concert space in the middle of town and also to have separate cycle routes away from traffic everywhere in the borough (town and country). But at the moment i just want to hang on to what we’ve got!
improve the historic buildings in the town to renovate the shop fronts to be more traditional and get rid of tacky shop fronts they really annoy me. Make Darlington the place to visit for tourists to increase business.
Oh Gosh what would I like to do is so very different to what there is money available to do. The council has to save so much money in the next three years it will be difficult enough keeping what we have. I would like to see private companies invest
in more leisure facilities for the town, I would like an escape type place with bowling alleys and multiplex cinemas and climbing walls with skiing and snowboarding. Its great having a wish list.
