I think every town is enriched by having statues and other art work around. I love ‘ Train’ by David Mach up near Morrisons at Morton Park. You can get to it be taking a pleasant walk from the Morrisons’ car park. Have you been? Joseph Pease is important to our history (he’s the one in the town centre) and the idea for a statue to Arthur(?not sure if that’sthe right name)Wharton – the first black person to play professional football in England who played for Darlington – is a great idea. That is to be provided by public subscription. Have you seen the Yards in Darlington. There is lots of artwork there done by QESFC students which is really good.
