This is very difficult because i think whatever older people say it makes no difference because young people have to find out by experience a good way to live which suits them. All I could do is talk and advise and I don’t think many people would take much notice. But I’ve already commented on one thing which annoys me, and that is that I think there is a lot of sexism among young people. I don’t think girls fight back enough. Another thing I would like to change is attitudes to drink. i drink quite a bit, but I don’t think it is a good idea to actually go out on purpose to get drunk. The whole idea is to have a good time without losing control of yourself – so I would proably show lots of videos of CCTV footage of late nights in city centres with people being sick and falling over, so it would put people off doing the same because it looks so bad – and scary.

First I would pick myself of the floor. lol
I thing most young people don’t need to change. Most young people have thier heads screwed on straight. What they need is more places to hang out.
The few young people that need to change are those that are giving young people a bad name. I think they need to be listened to and understood. From my experience young people have alot of pressure on them and the find different ways to deal with that. Most silly and fun and some not.

I gather that you are talking about the very small minority of young people who do not fit into the general culture that is mostly accepted by young people. I was young once and we all do our growing up differently. There are huge pressures on young people nowadays, peer pressure, bullying (and by that I include all wearing the same fashion or be excluded from the group) and family. Parents have unbearable pressure and worries about their children. We all want them to be accepted as a group and we know how family breakdowns affect children. I know I have seen it and as a magistrate we have to pick up the pieces in society. The pressure on children belonging to multiple families can be really hard for them so understanding behaviour in society is really important. I do feel that we have a problem with young people and alcohol and how to sort it out is going to be very hard because it is not just young people.
