My Dad is a councillor in Sunderland so you could say that my parents influenced my choice. He is retiring next year because he will be 79 and I think he has done his bit. I also wanted to make a difference in my home town and make the place I live in the best it could be! I like Darlington it is a beautiful town and the councillors who represent you, do make a difference.

I want to be a councillor to make people happy and their lives easier. Also to change somethings in Darlington to make them better.

I have always wanted to be invovled with making decisions to help Darlington improve. When I was asked to be a councillor I said ‘Yes!’

My main reason for wanting to be a councillor is that I am a member of the Labour Party and I wanted to make sure that Labour ideas got translated into action to improve our town and borough. Once I got on the Council I found out that is not as easy as it sounds. But I’ve kept on asking to be re-elected because I find all the things we do very interesting. I suppose I’m a sort of natural busybody, I love knowing what’s going on in Darlington life.
