Young people make their own choices – more real life shock stories may make them stop. What I can never understand is how people can aford to smoke and why waste money on something that can give you cancer and just burns in front of you. How would you deal with this?

How about other kids saying that it is not cool. And it is not it can kill you. When Adults tell kids not to do stuff
the first thing they do is do it.

There are many reasons why kids resort to drink and smoke. We need to make it less cool to do so, we need to get more things for you to do on an evening or weekend, also we need educate by showing you what actually happens to your body when you drink and smoke. That might help.

This is a problem all over the borough. I thought most young people had been put off smoking? perhaps it’s a phase and people try to smoke but stop pretty soon. I would like to see police confiscating drink from children drinking in public. They have that power and it should be used more often. When people realise they have wasted their money, it may discourage them.
