There are many pockets of land in the borough that is prime land for building on. Probably there could be a different
skyline when we look at the roof tops in 5 years time. I hope so, nothing stands still and if that makes for a better quality of life for Darlingtons residents then good!

I would like to think that there will be several new schools, more shops and people will be happier. We will ahve to work hard to get there though. I think the elections will be very exciting in 5 years as there was only 6000 votes between the three main parties. We may get a hint of what will happen next year when all of us the councillors have to try and get elected again.

I am extremely pessimistic about the future. I totally disagree with the policies of the Conservative government who are making budget cuts too fast and too deeply (Labour agrees there have to be cuts, but not on this scale) My greatest fear is that we will have hardly any leisure activities or leisure facilities, places to go to enjoy the arts and pursue our dreams and talents. So i think Darlington will not be so lively, there will be little to do, and the economy of the town will suffer. I would be delighted to be proved wrong, for the sake of us all in Darlington, even if I had to admit I was wrong!

Hopefully people will be living more in keeping with their income – less debt and more sensible spending choices as people and as a government.
