Oh if I could of course i WOULD. These are the best days of your life and you should be allowed
to have great stuff to play with. Its just that the mams and dads pay the council tax and it is not
always what children want that is the first priority.

Definetly, I believe there should be more places for young people to hang out. I know that in North Park the council put a cycle track and it has gone down so well. There are always loads of people there. I would like to see things like that all over Darlington. I think something different in each park allows a good choice for all of you. I would like to see shelters built in parks for you to take cover if there is a sudden down pour of rain.

I certainly would if I could, money permitting. However, to ‘hang out’ as you put it, probably what you need is something not expensive, it used to be the street corner, every area will have its favourite or natural place to meet.
What you probably need is more understanding. some older people see large groups of teenagers as scary when they ‘re not. so it would be good if teenagers are not ‘moved on’ all the time. on the other hand, you have to behave reasonably as well!

Yes , if I had the money I would love to provide more facilities for teenagers in our town. I got into skateboarding when I was a teenager and I campaigned to get a skatepark in the town back in1977. I’m afraid the campaign was’t too succesful and all the council gave us was two long strips of rubber to skate on, one at Red Hall and one on Skerne park. I’m glad to see that things have improved since then and we do have a skate park in the South Park and a couple of decent bike tracks but I do feel that we could do with more.

Yes is the answer – I like the warehouse skate park idea in Redcar – if we could find a business sponsor perhaps this could be explored as an idea to take forward. What sort of place would you suggest for teenagers to hang out?
