Andrew you probably have a wish list and I dont want to burst your bubble but
being a councillor means you have to work as a team to get the nice things done
in our town. I think Darlington is a very nice town to live in and lets hope we dont make the people who
live here miserable.
I know some things I would change, but it should not all be what I want. Changes should be decided by the people who are affected by them the most. An example would be there are a lot of people who complain about the buses in town. To change that I would like to talk to most bus uses to find out where that would like to have the buses go around the town centre. That way the users get what is better for them not what I think may be better.
If money was no object, I would like to see a new arts venue in the centre of town and more cycle paths for safety and to get people out of their cars. As it is, i would try to fight to keep what we have in the face of the cuts we are expecting.
If we had enough money I would like to do many things to make life better for the people of Darlington. I would like to spend a lot more money on the youth service so that they can provide even better services for young people, I would also like to provide more community based police on the streets so that we could all feel safer. Unfortunately this government is forcing Darlington council to make huge cut backs in what it spends so the best that I can do at the moment is to fight to keep what we already have.
