It means speaking up and out for people to make their quality of life better.

I think it means caring about the place you live in and caring for the people who live there, and to be willing to do something about it. I want to make a difference to the people who want my help in the ward.

In one way, it means you can give your opinions about things and get involved with everything, but on a deeper level, it really is a position of trust and you feel wuite honoured that people have taken the time and trouble to think about things and have still voted for you. It’ a very serious thing to represent several thousand people (even if they didn’t vote for you) and to help to make decsions that affect 100,000 people in Darlington as a whole.
