I am a local councillor and only the power to try and change what happens locally in Darlington. I am also an idealist and see that we do live in a global society, I would like people’s lives to mean a bit more than see how many people are murdered or killed on a daily basis. Life is so precious but we seem to read that people are killed for some insignificant issue or die without some reason. I dont often watch eastenders but Dot said it was good so I watched it the other day. A young boy called Billy died he was supposed to have drunk too much alcohol. How rotton sad, the acting was superb and his mam was devastated. There are consequences in every thing we do and seeing his family hysterical with grief was heartbreaking.
In my mind one of the biggest problems in the world today is intolerance, we just don’t seem to be able to get on with each other and respect each others different views and religions. There are many wars going on at the moment across the world and governments spend biilions of pounds on them, this money could vastly improve the lives of almost everyone on the planet. So, if I could change anything in the world today it would be to try to get people to learn to respect each other, I try to do this in my role as a councillor but I’m a very small fish in a huge ocean!
