I adored badmington and used to play twice a week at school and three nights around the youth clubs at Sunderland. Bede School in Sunderland had the best courts. I even ended up playing for the county. I did do a bit of sea fishing as well. My Dad worked for the railway and we used to get free passes for travelling and I used to go to Durham and visit my Auntie and ice skate at the rink there.
I’ve always enjoyed cycling, not fast and competitively, just going out for bike rides in the country and that sort of thing. I still do all that (This year I cycled from here to Amiens our twin town in France with the town Twinnig group).
I used to wak a lot in the Lake District especially. I also like going to art galleries, the theatre and reading.
I went to dance classes, rock climbing at the Dolphin Centre, school productions and on a weekend I had a saturday job from age 13 in a florists so this kept me quite busy.
When I was younger I was an athletics coach and enjoyed training for races. I would also do keep fit and weight training.
I have got many medals from my sports, even one north east regional medal for cross country. I also swam for the school in county championships. I was on the netball, hockey and softball team too.
When I was at primary school I used to love mucking about with bicycles. I would get an old bike and take it to bits and repaint it and try to put it back together again. When I became a teenager I discovered skateboarding and music…I still love music but it’s been some time since I have been on a skateboard.
