At this moment in time I do not want to be Mayor. They work very hard doing mayoral things and have less time to do ward things and helping people. That is what I became a Councillor to do.
I have already been the Mayor, in 2000. It was a great year and very ineteresting. I think most people would enjoy it, but you can’t be Mayor and have a job as well (or it would be very difficult)
I think the idea of being mayor for a year is quite prestigious and I’m sure I’d enjoy this opportunity depending on my own job and if I can fit it in – I’m not eligible for quite a number of years.
Being mayor is certainly not my main objective for being a councillor but it certainly be an honour to be the towns first citizen although I would have to be elected at least twice more for my turn to come round, so I won’t hold my breath.
I am the deputy mayor at the moment and if I get re elected next year I get
to be the mayor.
