Question: If you won this competition would you be willing to come into schools and ask kids what they want to be updated or improved??? or set up an online question service like one this website ???
I would! I love coming iinto schools to talk about anything really. I used to teach 11 to 16 year olds and sometimes I miss it. Also I think there is sometimes a generation gap and older and younger people have to get along, so this is one way of doing that.
I do not need to win the competition to consult young people as it is part and parcel of the job of being a councillor. I am available by e-mail (lee.vasey@darlington.gov.uk) to answer questions any young person has and if it something I cannot answer then I would try my very best to find out. Being a councillor is not just to serve people 18 and over we do the same for you!
Yes. I think it is important that we learn to listen to young people as they can have some brilliant ideas. Today I went to Hurworth and I cam away with at least 10 really good ideas or suggestions. I have acted on three of those already. One is on my status on my main page.
