If you read my profile I am quite generous with what I actually do as a councillor if you want a more in depth answer
I shall be happy to answer or even a question on my profile?

The best part for me, being a councillor is being able to take a problem for a resident and help to solve it, or get them some goood advice.

I also attend ward meetings and listen to the people in my ward to see if I can help them. I also enjoy getting involved in big issues. At the moment I am fighting to try and keep a service called dial a ride. This is for disabled people who have difficulty getting into town, A special mini bus goes and collects them to bring them to town. But the Council have cut the money for this service, I am trying to help them keep the servoce going.

Basically you help people who live in your ward with any problems they have with the council and you work within the council to make the Borough a good place to live and visit.

The problems people come to me with have ranged from school admission problems to a wall that needed mending that velonged to the council.

Listen to residents and their issues and concerns. Being on the Environment and Scrutiny Committe – try to share my ideas and help form views and opinions of a wide variety of topics. Work hard to ensure the residents in my ward and Darlington get a good service from the Council and myself.

I seem to go to a lot of meetings. some are useful and some are awful. I work with colleagues on the Council, I go round my ward visiting people or trying to sort out problems. I probably spend about four hours a day on Council work, but some days it is about 12 hours – or seems like it!
