Yes it is but you have to really want to help people and make Darlington Borough a good place for future generations. It is a lot of hard work. I work most evenings till 10pm.
There are good and bad answers to being a councillor. The good stuff is when you manage to make a difference and know that you are getting it right. I am looking forward to being the mayor next year if I get re-elected. Now that is really good! The bad stuff is when there are really difficult decisions to make especially when you know its not what people want. I am sad that the government has decided that we will not have enough money for our budgets and will have to make serious cuts which will make a bad difference to people’s lives. I did’nt come into politics to make our residents lives a misery because cuts affect everyone including me….
